a collection of untitled poetry #3

her touch of gold rusts against the wind and melts under the shadows

salty tears lay upon skin bruised and dry

a breath of joy muffled by the ever-changing tides

poisoned love curdles the hopes of the young

forbidden secrets and its masquerading truth

laughter and smiles so desperately forgotten

her body overgrown with brambles and leaves rotten with woe

a rose envied of beauty, her thorns pierce the thick

blood becomes water, cleansing the fruits of Eden

a craving heart and lungs of smoke

her tongue bitter with promises of a broken soul

fragmented memories of life before, kept in withered photographs
